ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Catches and places pullets into coops for transporting to layer barns using great caution.

  • Unloads breeding stock into layer barns using great caution.

  • Assembles and disassembles track used in pullet moving.

  • Assists in tarping truck during periods of inclement weather.

  • Assists in moving male roosters from spike barn.

  • Assists with drawing blood samples.

  • Assists in the 12 week and 17 week vaccination of pullets. This includes:

  • Very careful handling and holding of birds for vaccination

  • Precise breast or wing vaccination of breeding stock

  • Assists in repair of breeder equipment which includes vaccination guns and pullet moving equipment.

  • Occasionally assists in complete sanitation and disinfecting of breeder facilities.

  • Occasionally assists with specialized broiler work coordinated by the broiler vaccination supervisor, which may include weighing of breeder layer hens.

  • Drives breeder semi tractor to barns in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Conducts pre-trip and post-trip inspections in accordance to divisional guidelines and DOT requirements.

  • Communication with team members and leadership regarding all relevant information.

  • Assist with spray vaccination procedures.

  • Assist with blood and fat pad draws.

  • Assist with Salmonella testing.


  • Team Members Observe & enforce all company personnel, quality, safety, and food safety policies.

  • Maintains a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you work effectively and cooperatively with customers, clients, coworkers, and leadership teams.

  • Participates in process improvement and problem solving utilizing continuous improvement and rational thinking methodologies such as Six Sigma, and participates in or supports Alchemy Training.

  • Recognizes and acts on incidents and safety risks. Consistently practices, and enforces safe work habits and drives those habits throughout the organization.


· High School or GED required with one to three years driving experience.

· Class A drivers’ license with acceptable driving record per Company policy required.

· Ability to compute percentages and fractions.

· Forklift license required.

· Ability to work in a dusty environment.

· Ability to perform blood draw procedures in compliance with Animal Health guidelines.

· Ability to lift 50 pounds.

· Ability to perform light maintenance on equipment.

· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
