Purpose & Scope: The Utilities supervisor is a leader in the facility organizational structure that reports directly to the Utilities General Foreman. This position offers broad exposure to all elements of Maintenance and Operations of the Potable Water Treatment and Refrigeration system of our facility.

Principle Responsibilities: List and describe (in order of importance) the specific tasks, assignments, level of discretionary authority and/or functions performed.

  • 60% - Maintenance and Reliability: Leverage labor, materials and equipment to prevent, and eliminate, equipment failures through targeted deployment of maintenance strategies, reliable execution of work management practices and reliability engineering principles. Champion failure investigation and problem identification and resolution activities.

  • 20% - Talent Management: Lead the development of human assets by effectively training, engaging, coaching, appraising and responding to the needs of employees. Ensure key results areas, and goals, are aligned with the organization’s strategy and long term success.

  • 15% - Food and People Safety: Ensure all practices and procedures support a safe working culture and one that promotes the manufacturing of healthy and safe food and food ingredients.

  • 5% - Plant Leadership: Serve as a key member of the plant leadership team, providing overall plant and business leadership, role modeling, mentoring and coaching to employees in the utilities and maintenance department.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work all shifts

  • Ability to work in hot and cold environments

  • Ability to work in areas that have unique smells

  • Ability to work at heights above 4 ft.

Requirements: Describe necessary knowledge or skills, and type and amount of formal schooling, and work experience normally required to obtain these. Do not describe your own particular background.

  • 3 years of proven maintenance leadership in a complex, labor intensive environment

  • Knowledge of OSHA, Food Safety, Safety and Environmental Regulations

  • Demonstrated skills of team building, conflict resolution, innovation and change within the work force

  • Must work equally as well in a team environment and alone

  • Work management processes

  • Professional verbal and written communication skills to complete proposals, presentations, policies, etc

  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems using formal techniques to evaluate systems, equipment and failures.

  • Must be or willing to become member/IC of the Hazmat team

  • Overall knowledge of the Maintenance Boiler & Refrigeration Operation and the industry is not required but a plus

  • Moderate Skill level in Microsoft Office Suite of applications Supervision of Personnel: This position supervises 12 hourly union employees
