The Corporate Expense Manager / ZBB role must be an energetic, curious and inquisitive person. The position will be an integral part of setting the strategy to improve results based on the knowledge acquired while digging into data. The manager will support live plant operations, will focus on controlling expenses, will implement a process improvement culture, will guide Operations and will support the Finance team with projects and processes to reduce expenses. The Expense Manager is responsible for managing the Monthly Plant Financial meetings, including all variance explanations and action plans. The manager is a key position that supports the CFO with the budget process, analytical reports and projects. The position supports month-end close and special projects as requested. The manager will work closely with manufacturing to understand issues and how they impact the financial results, as well as educate/inform department(s) on cost drivers and variances. The role must look for root causes that affect results and propose corrections using data.


  • Manage the overall general accounts recorded as fixed and variable costs for all plants and warehouses (Budget x Actual) on a monthly basis.

  • Responsible for the Budget process (timeline, fixed & variable costs, align volume versus plant capacity, plant presentations).

  • Drives the team in achieving the annual budget.

  • Prepares quarterly forecasts and variance analysis.

  • Leads the effort to identify cost saving improvement ideas for plants and facilities. Implements these ideas in conjunction with the team. Tracks the actual performance of the cost savings.

  • Partners with the Operations & Operational Excellence team for cost saving ideas and performance tracking.

  • Drives the effort toward process improvement utilizing a variety of tools and methodologies (5S, RCA, PDCA, Six Sigma), ensures motivation, continuity, engagement and participation from other areas.

  • Develop effective tracking tools to keep key indicators under control.

  • Use data acquired daily/weekly/monthly to build trends and strategies that help the complex achieve the desired results.

  • Disseminate the culture to the organization where results are managed, which implies analyzing and developing action plans capable of ensuring outcomes.

  • Provide in-depth training to the entire organization about ZBB (zero based budgeting).

  • Responsible for coordinating the local plant budgeting process of fixed and variable expenses.

  • Prepare and report actual vs. budgeted results in monthly and quarterly presentations.

  • Responsible for making sure that the proper general ledger account and cost centers are correctly being used. This includes plant expenditures and capital expenditures.

  • Consolidate the initiatives performed by each plant and warehouse to reduce the inventory levels and disseminate the process across the entire organization.

  • Be diligent and relentless in tracking the key indicators, simplifying and improving the process as opportunities arise. Prepare weekly/monthly reports & analysis such as monthly inventory, fixed & variable costs and gross margin.

  • Interact with other JBS entities to benchmark cost savings initiatives to be implemented.

  • Participate in productivity events at the plants to help achieve goals.

  • Partner with the Operations & Operational Excellence team to establish mechanisms for all plants to build, track and execute a productivity three-year pipeline.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Engineering or a related field preferred

  • MBA is a plus

  • 3+ years of analytical experience, preferred in a manufacturing setting

  • 3+ years of experience in a continuous improvement culture

  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports and projections

  • Collaboration skills

  • Strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail

  • MS Office (Excel and PowerPoint) proficiency, SAP proficiency strongly preferred

  • Advanced skills with VBA experience

  • A team player with a positive, can do attitude and agility to flex multiple work streams fluidly


The position will require some travel (about 10%) to each plant and warehouse.
