JOB SUMMARY

The Sanitation team is the first line of defense in food safety by performing housekeeping duties including cleaning & sanitizing floors, walls, plant equipment, tanks and pipelines, etc.

The Sanitation Manager is responsible for providing direction and oversight to the sanitation team and to ensure sanitation and pre-op process are complete, so there is a fluid handoff to the Production team at the targeted start times each day.

Salary range: $80,000 to $90,000 plus 20% annual bonus

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise, evaluate and direct personnel on shift in performing tasks according to sound operating principles and company policies and procedures

Implement Lean manufacturing practices and develop and measure KPI’s to drive continuous improvement.

Enforce maximum safety, efficiency and productivity of team members; ensure proper training of employees

Anticipate and determine causes of deviations and take appropriate actions to meet team objectives

Apply company employee relations and policies in all dealing with employees

Monitor and confirm that machinery, equipment and facilities are properly maintained and sanitized for efficient production

Arrange to have appropriate records prepared and maintained (i.e., payroll, yields)

Work closely with production supervisors and management to promote efficiency and teamwork in each department and in plant facility

Attend meetings as scheduled or called

Perform various other duties as needed or as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Minimum 5 years in food manufacturing plant or similar; meat experience strongly preferred

Extensive knowledge and technical skill in sanitation and meat processing jobs.

Managerial skills; good interpersonal relations; ability to handle conflict.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Team Player with leadership skills

Experience in leading groups of manufacturing employees, including setting team and individual objectives, managing individual and team performance and building a team approach to problem solving

Outstanding communication skills in order to lead engage and motivate individuals and/or teams.

A thorough understanding of lean manufacturing principles and leadership applications within a manufacturing environment.

Strong proficiency with personal computer software with knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and multiple applications required.

Detail oriented and strong analytical skills

Highly organized

Spanish/English bilingual desired but not required

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Frequent sitting, standing and walking, which may be required for long periods of time

Slippery floors, cold temperatures, and loud ambient noise

Must undergo and meet company standards for background and reference checks, controlled substance testing

Required ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently

Handling and being exposed to sensitive and confidential information

May be exposed to stressful situations

Seeing, hearing and speaking clearly in order to communicate effectively

Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50# unassisted

Good attendance and safety records
