JBS USA PRODUCTION HOURLY-Team Lead II - INTERNAL PREFERRED in Dalhart, Texas

Purpose & Scope:

This position is responsible for assisting the farm meet production goals while focusing on breeding targets with accurate record keeping. A successful Team Lead II exhibits great leadership skills by showcasing knowledge, competencies, and leadership to the team members while providing direction on sow breeding techniques, sow production protocols, and inventory control. Team Lead II recognizes the contributions of every team member and encourages them to work together, sharing ideas and maintaining good relationships in the execution of production tasks. Team Lead II promotes the safety and wellbeing of all team members all while helping meet the production goals.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Oversee, tattooing or tagging of animals to allow animal identification.

  • Ensure accurate recording of animal characteristics such as weights, growth patterns, and diets.

  • Assist in complete breeding procedure: insemination, feeding, coordinating farm activities, detection of illness, administrating vaccinations and/or medication and any other activity farm needs help with

  • Weekly sow inventory reporting/audits

  • Analyze data to improve farm production/parity structure

  • Selecting and Training coworkers for data entry

  • Manage animal nutrition, including feeding and watering animals, and cleaning and disinfecting pens, enclosures, and yards.

  • Direct examination animals to detect symptoms of illness or injury. Treat minor injuries and ailments and contact veterinarians to obtain treatment for animals with serious illnesses or injuries.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Bilingual – English and Spanish required (verbal and written)

  • Ability to stand, stoop, and walk constantly

  • Occasional lift, push, or pull up to 60lbs

Required Qualifications:

  • Required 4 year degree in Animal Science or related field or equivalent experience

  • 1 year breeding/sow production experience

  • Strong communication and listening skills

  • Proficient with computer systems: Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, PPT

  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems and make decisions independently

  • Ability to effectively lead and/or work in a team environment

  • Be a team oriented, self-motivated and positive individual with strong work ethic

  • Ability to efficiently multi-task in a fast-paced environment

  • Familiarity with Bio-Security

  • Proven safety track and awareness

Travel: Occasional travel required
