Pilgrim’s is seeking a Director of Ethics and Compliance for its growing team and enhanced Ethics & Compliance Program. The Director will play an important role in the day-to-day development, implementation and maintenance of Pilgrim’s Ethics and Compliance Program. This position will be based at our Corporate Headquarters in Greeley, CO. This will be a nationwide search.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Working within the Ethics and Compliance Department to ensure that key components of Pilgrim’s Ethics and Compliance Program are up-to-date, implemented, monitored, and best in class.

  • Working within the Ethics and Compliance Department to ensure and oversee day-to-day compliance in the following areas: keeping policies up-to-date; policy communication to all levels of company personnel; conducting policy trainings; monitoring personnel trainings to comply with deadlines and ensure accuracy; third party due diligence; on-going internal controls and monitoring; and on-going risk assessment.

  • Working with Internal Audit, HR, Financial and other business units to develop metrics for identifying, measuring and tracking risk controls and mitigation

  • Helping to respond to ethics and compliance inquiries from all Pilgrim’s personnel, including executive leadership, business units and departments

  • Researching relevant laws, regulations, policies and assist in drafting necessary updates to Pilgrim’s Code of Ethics

  • Conducting investigations of alleged violations of laws, regulations and company policies

  • Maintaining centralized database of all company policies

  • Maintaining centralized database of all ethics and compliance complaints, investigations, and outcomes.

  • Helping to identify and remedy, when necessary, gaps in policy development, implementation and training.

  • Helping promote a daily “Culture of Compliance.”

  • Other duties necessary to assist in the successful design, implementation and monitoring of a best in class Ethics and Compliance Program

  • This position will report to Pilgrim’s Senior Director of Ethics and Compliance

    Candidates should have:

  • A minimum of 5 - 7 years of ethics and compliance experience, including implementing and monitoring compliance programs and internal controls for large scale companies.

  • Areas of experience should include at least some of the following: revising compliance policies; training on those policies; communicating those policies across the company; third party due diligence; risk assessment; and internal controls; and investigating allegations or complaints of wrongdoing or violations of policies.

  • Law or other advanced degree or certification related to the compliance function (such as CPA, CFE) strongly preferred.

  • Some combination of company / law firm and government experience is preferred.

  • Experience working with Internal Audit Departments and/or data analytics.

  • Excellent organizational and attention-to-detail skills are a must.

  • Ability to work independently and accept ownership of issue areas, while also being part of a collaborative team whose single goal is making Pilgrim’s Ethics and Compliance Program a best in class.

  • Must be a team player.

  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to simultaneously handle multiple tasks of differing levels of complexity.

  • Ability to meet realistic deadlines.

  • Experience in the food processing industry is a plus, but is not required.

  • Experience with analytic and compliance tools.

  • A commitment to the highest ethical and compliance standards.

    The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:

  • Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;

  • Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;

  • 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;

  • Base Salary Range: $125,000-$175,000; and

  • This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program;
