ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY MANAGER

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The position will report to and assist the JBS USA Head of Environmental Sustainability, overseeing and facilitating all environmental affairs and Scope 1 and 2 GHG emission reduction programs of JBS USA. Through effective engagement with all plants, programs and personnel whose roles impact compliance with environmental laws, the position will share best practices, investigate opportunities, troubleshoot challenges and generally advance our environmental and sustainability initiatives. Technical expertise in environmental and GHG reduction efforts is of import as this role will be looked upon as a technical expert and a facilitator of progress. Routine travel to the plants is expected, and the desire to continuously promote and advance our initiatives and requirements is obligatory.

ONGOING RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide support and technical expertise on environmental permits and their systems

  • Provide support and technical expertise on water use reduction, energy savings, and GHG reduction efforts

  • Promote the objective of continuous compliance in a cost-effective manner

  • Promote the objective of minimizing Scope 1 & 2 GHG emissions, water use reductions, and other Sustainability initiatives

  • Provide the technical expertise to troubleshoot environmental challenges, design and implement improvements, and validate ongoing effectiveness of such

  • Prepare reports and other communications to evidence the status of environmental sustainability programs

  • Lead and/or participate in meetings with internal and external stakeholders regarding environmental and sustainability initiatives of JBS USA

  • Manage the accurate compilation and dissemination of GHG reduction projects, and Net Zero 2040 projects and initiatives

  • Identify opportunities to facilitate the collection, consistency, and inputting of data by the JBS USA environmental and sustainability teams

  • Travel of up to 50% is expected

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in an engineering area

  • Ideal candidate will have at least 4 years operating experience in chemical and biological wastewater treatment, air permit systems, general environmental programs and permits, efficient energy usage, and greenhouse gas emissions; knowledge of permitting requirement for all environmental aspects is also desired

  • Desire to engage with plants, troubleshoot opportunities, assist with projects, and progressively consider future opportunities

  • Analytical/mechanical minded with effective oral and written communication skills

  • Proven project management and collaboration skills

  • Passion for environmental sustainability and desire to advance a global company’s environmental program

The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits :

  • Benefits : Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;

  • Paid Time Off : sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;

  • 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;

  • Base salary range of $75,000 - $140,000; and

  • Incentive Pay: This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program;

This compensation range is specific to the State of Colorado and takes into account various factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to a candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiencies for the role.
