The Head of Retail Ready Technical Services is accountable for managing the Retail Ready Business Unit adherence to JBS USA Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) programs. Leads the Retail Ready HACCP, Quality Assurance, Food Safety and Regulatory programs and quality culture by establishing and maintaining quality assurance standards, procedures, and controls.

Scope Of Position:

Responsible for HACCP, Quality Assurance, Food Safety and Regulatory programs for the JBS Retail Ready Business Unit. This position will be responsible for managing QA and Food Safety teams at our Retail Ready facilities. Additionally, this individuals’ team will manage new product requests (NPRs), creating the associated product codes and specifications, guiding the business on creating new approvals, etc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following; other duties may be assigned

  • Manages, plans, coordinates, and directs quality control programs designed to ensure continuous production and service consistent with established standards

  • Responsible for implementation and management of the HACCP, Quality Assurance, Food Safety and Regulatory programs, specifications, standards, shelf life, controls, and certifications approvals

  • Oversees all product specifications, formulations, tests, process approvals, all while focusing on the best quality in class with the lowest costs

  • Responsible for the management and development of statistical analysis in order to manage food safety and quality programs ensuring continuous improvement

  • Supports the commercialization of product changes and implementation of new items and processes

  • Oversees the management of the Retail Ready labeling programs, specifications, new product requests, and approvals for our products

  • Works with cross-functional team members to flawlessly implement formulations, manufacturing processes and commissioning new equipment and manufacturing lines

  • Provides onsite monitoring and technical assistance to operations when testing/manufacturing new products

  • Coordinates with operations and quality teams to investigate customer complaints and respond in a timely manner

  • Plans, promotes, and organizes training activities related to food safety and quality assurance

  • Coaches and trains FSQA team as needed to ensure full understanding of expectations within the department

  • Lead customer, third party and UDA/FSIS/ASM audits when conducted

Capabilities/Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated HACCP, QA and Food Safety technical competence/expertise

  • Demonstrated motivation and creative problem solving skills

  • Ability to interact with others in manufacturing, sales, customers and office environment

  • GFSI (BRC specifically) Training preferred

  • Pro-active self-starter, willing to accept responsibility for completion of business tasks. Must be a driven individual that can take ownership of projects, R&D, QA and Food Safety responsibilities, and complete all the relevant tasks required for the job with minimal oversight

  • Autonomous self-starter that is accountable to delivering exceptional project results. Must be self-motivated, with ability to follow through and complete task in the given deadlines

  • Excellent collaboration and organizational skills

  • Must be able to work closely with many departments including Sales, Marketing, Purchasing, and Production

  • Clear, concise written and oral communication skills required with attention to detail and accuracy mandatory

  • Computer skills that include Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Experience/Work History:

  • Prior work history/experience with HACCP, QA and Food Safety

  • Bachelor’s degree in meat science/food science or equivalent with 15+ years of industry experience or Graduate degree with 12+ years of experience. Or significant relevant industry experience

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Retail Ready plant teams responsible for HACCP, QA, Food Safety and Regulatory

  • Corporate QC Manager responsible for completing new product requests (NPRs), creating the associated product codes and specifications, guiding the business on creating new approvals, etc.

Travel:

  • Estimating about 65% travel to our Retail Ready and JBS processing facilities

The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits :

  • Benefits : Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;

  • Paid Time Off : sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;

  • 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;

  • Base salary range of $140,000 to $190,000; and

  • Incentive Pay: This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program;

This compensation range is specific to the State of Colorado and takes into account various factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to a candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiencies for the role.
