This innovation marketing position drives and champions the voice of the consumer and the voice of the operator for the Pilgrim’s Prepared Foods business unit inside the Innovation Marketing team. With an appetite for data coupled with an insatiable curiosity, this role thrives with consumer and operator data fluency, driving the discovery of consumer, cultural, category, and competitive insights. The Insights Manager has a combined love of reading and crafting insight stories serving as the connector and catalyst of insights led by facts serving as the basis for the Innovation Pipeline.
Serves as the voice of the consumer and the voice of the operator backed by data validation and insights for the Innovation Team from the initial brief to the delivery of the insights and recommended actions
Designs, fields, synthesizes, and analyzes market research – qualitative and quantitative – using syndicated (from research partners and agencies) and proprietary market research systems and platforms to inform the Prepared Foods Innovation Pipeline
Balances the insights discipline across the domains of macro (social, technological, economic, environmental, political, and well-being) and micro (category and product including competitive intelligence) to outfit the Innovation Team with consumption behaviors and patterns
Works closely with the Innovation Team Product Marketing Managers as well as with R&D Product Development Managers to provide insights-driven rationale for prioritization of product and project development through the brand lens across the Prepared Foods brand arsenal
Develops, executes, and presents annual trend reports across retail and foodservice channels, creating opportunity space gap assessments as well as identification of consumer and operator need states
Collaborates with Culinary and Sensory Science Team providing data-driven guidance and insights to help with product development and sensory science testing protocols
Manages the data and insights of new product development projects from Market Landscape Assessment through Commercialization and Post Launch Optimization stages
Provides support in the tracking and reporting against innovation goals and objectives (KPIs) back into the broader organization
Collaborates with research vendors/partners to design and to execute market research studies to uncover meaningful insights and implications
Creates and qualifies platforms, concepts, and ideas to align with brand plans, innovation platforms, and business priorities
Partners with broader Innovation Marketing, R&D, Market Intelligence, Sales, Customer Marketing, and Category Marketing teams to help “sell in” innovations to key customers
Provides insights as well as delivers presentations and reports cross-functionally
Minimum of 2-3 years of related experience (food or CPG preferred)
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
Ability to travel (25%)
Excellent strategic thinking, collaboration, problem solving, peer influencing, and project execution skills
Experience in business case development
Excellent communication and presentation skills—verbal and written with the skillset of synthesizing and simplifying data
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Strong negotiation skills and attention to detail
Proficiency with leading and influencing peers
Listens patiently and acts with a sense of urgency
Comfortable working in ambiguity and bringing structure with data and insights
The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:
Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;
401(k): eligible after 90 days of employment including company match which begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule
Base salary range of $77,000 – $100,000 annually; and
This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program.
