Position Title: Maintenance Mechanic
Status: Full Time (50-60 hours per week, overtime is mandatory)
Shift: 2 nd (Eligible for shift differential pay.)
Department: Maintenance (Reports to Shift Maintenance Supervisor )
Sunnyvalley Smoked Meats is a dynamic fast paced environment. We are looking for self-motivated
individuals who can work well independently or in a team environment. The maintenance mechanic is
responsible for predictive and preventative maintenance on various food processing equipment and
associated support equipment. Maintenance is carried out based on manufactures recommendations
as well as general industry practices. Mechanic must also follow USDA, OSHA, and GMP practices and
Maintain and repair all production equipment: including, but not limited to brine tanks, injectors, ovens, presses, slicers, conveyors, packaging equipment, labeling equipment, etc..
Maintain and repair all support equipment: including but not limited to, boilers, air-compressors vacuum pumps, refrigeration, water treatment, lighting, electrical, etc..
Ordering / maintaining inventories for all parts to service equipment.
Documentation of all schematic and diagram changes to keep plant record current.
Proper use and maintenance on all tools.
Responsible for daily record keeping, including; work orders, material requisitions, and activity reports (all time is to be accountable).
Responsible for all work being done in a proper and timely fashion.
Follow all company policies, such as but not limited to; Good Manufacturing Practices (GM Safe
Quality Foods (SQF), safety protocol and procedures.
Written and verbal communication with plant management, vendors, production staff, etc..

Intermediate to advanced mechanical skills, including but not limited to; motors, gear boxes, bearings, sprockets, pulleys, chains, etc..
Basic electrical skills with knowledge of 480/277V, 120/208/230V, and 24V DC.
Knowledge of and proper use of hand and power tools, including but not limited to, miscellaneous hand tools, drills, impact guns, pullers, metal cutting tools, rotary hammer drills, threading equipment, etc..
Ability to read and understand maintenance manuals and electrical diagrams and schematics.
Strong troubleshooting abilities. (Mechanical and electrical)
Experience with PLC’s
Experience with ABB VFDs
Air systems (compressors and pneumatics)
Education and/or Experience:
High School Graduate or equivalent.
Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
Basic computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Must have a working knowledge of and experience in plant maintenance operations.
Minimum three years of experience in industrial/manufacturing maintenance.

Sitting/Standing/Walking: Each workday, the maintenance mechanic will do all three.
Must be able to stand on feet for at least a two hour consecutive time period and up to 8-12 hours.
Lifting/Carrying: Each workday, the maintenance mechanic lifts up to 50 pounds on a repetitive basis.
Occasional lifting/carrying above 50 pounds may be required as well.
Pushing/Pulling: Each workday, the maintenance mechanic frequently pushes and pulls up to,but not limited to, 50 pounds in a repetitive manner.
Bending/Stooping: Each workday, the maintenance mechanic will bend and stoop often.
Squatting/Kneeling/Crawling: Each workday, the maintenance mechanic will sometimes squat.
Occasional kneeling/crawling may be required.
Twisting/Turning: Each workday, the maintenance mechanic will often twist and turn while carrying items
Climbing/Balancing: Each workday, the maintenance mechanic will occasionally climb and/or balance.
Reaching: Each workday, the maintenance mechanic will frequently reach in a repetitive manner.
Grasping/Manipulating: Each workday, the maintenance mechanic will frequently grasp and manipulate in a repetitive manner.
The use of non-slip footwear is necessary due to slippery and wet floors.
The use of rubber gloves is necessary to preform job functions.
Constantly subjected to moving mechanical parts.
Occasional exposure to hazardous materials and chemicals.
Employee will be subject to temperatures ranging from 0 degrees F to 130 degrees F.
Working area is noisy and may require that hearing protection be worn at all times.
