Title : Business Unit Safety & Health Director
Location : Sumter, SC or Marshville, NC
Duties :
The Business Unit Safety and Health Director , in conjunction withOperations M anagement, shall provide
support, counsel and direction for :
Champion and drive the Company’s Zero Severe Injury Vision.
Safety compliance and preven tion programs for the processing facilities , associated satellite facilities and Live Operations in the assigned Business Unit.
In conjunction with the Director of Fleet Safety, ensure DOT compliance and accident prevention programs for all transportation operatio ns within each assigned Complex in the Business Unit.
In conjunction with the Occupational Health Director , oversee the Occupational Health function (Medical Case M anagement, OSHA Recordkeeping , etc.) within each assigned C omplex in the Business Unit.
In coordination with Corporate Rick Management and our Third Party Administrator (TPA), provide active worke rs compensation case management and property protection insurance recommendations implementation.
Through the Complex Safety and Health Managers and Operations Management Teams in their assigned Business Unit, oversee and insure the communication, coordination and execution of Pilgrim’s safety strategies .
The Business Unit Safety & Health Director shall be r esponsible for providing support for four Big Bird Debone Business Unit C omplexes ( Broadway, VA; Marshville, NC; Sumter, SC; Elberton, GA ) . The Business Unit Safety and Health Director will work closely with the Complex Safety and Health Manager s , Complex Manager s and Head of Operations for the ir assigned Business Unit . Estimate d travel will be appro ximately fifty percent ( 50 %).
Support : The position has no direct reports.
Reporting : The Business Unit Safety and Health Director r eports to the Head of Safety and Health .

Safety Culture
Education :
Bachelors/Masters degree in Safety Engineering/Management or related field with five or more years of industrial experience (prefer food industry ) or equivalent experience.
Professional certification is a plus.
Skills Required:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Extensive knowledge in the areas of Workers Compensation, OSHA, DOT, etc. is essential.
Excellent computer skills.
Bi-lingual capabilities would be a plus.
