JOB TITLE: Shipping/Receiving Supervisor DEPARTMENT: Shipping/Receiving

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for ensuring the products are shipped to customers in accordance with sales order requests and company policies and procedures. Prioritizes shipping picklists, coordinates boxing, packaging, and mailing functions, and oversees inventory management. Handles a wide variety of paperwork and recordkeeping including work orders, purchase orders, material requisitions, and inventory logs. Supervises Shipping Clerk as necessary.


  1. Ensures the effective and timely completion of all shipping functions. a. Ensures that product is boxed in accordance with company packing procedures. b. Prioritizes shipping picklist and checks for inventory availability. c. Ensures appropriate handling of outgoing product. d. Shops for best shipping rates and schedules. e. Processes returns. f. Tracks inventory. g. Identifies, tracks, and resolves inventory and shipping errors, problems, or delays. 2. Ensures shipping functions are conducted in accordance with established policies and procedures. a. Ensures that established safety and quality standards are met. b. Ensures that schedules and deadlines are followed. 3. Completes and maintains shipping related paperwork, files, and records accurately and timely. a. Ensures the accurate completion of weekly shipping reports. b. Maintains freight shipping files. c. Maintains records of shippers’ cost schedules. d. Oversees the receipt and processing of purchase orders. e. Ensures that inventory records are current. 4. Establish and maintain good communication, coordination, and working relations with company personnel and with management. a. Directs, assists, coordinates, and supports Shipping Clerks as needed. i. Assists with training and scheduling. b. Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant problems. Identifies problems and provides suggestions. c. Attends meetings as required. 5. Assumes other duties as assigned. a. Ensures that boxes are prepared for product shipping. b. Handles special international shipments as required. c. Ensures that work area is clean, secure, and well-maintained. d. Completed special projects as assigned.


§ High School Diploma or equivalent certification § Two or more years of experience with shipping and receiving § Understanding of inventory management functions § Familiarity with UPS, Federal Express, and Federal mailing regulations § Knowledge of product protection requirements and packing procedures. § Ability to speak, read, and write English § Strong verbal and written communication skills § Bilingual (Spanish) preferred § Strong math skills

Must be able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.


Must be able to frequently and regularly use wrists, hands, and or fingers.


Average, ordinary visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents, products, or operate machinery.


Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds throughout the day.


Must be able to work for long hours in a no-kill food processing environment, where it is wet, damp, and cold. Temperatures are frequently below freezing, and employees are expected to remain in these conditions for the majority of their work days.
