JBS USA Blend Manager in Souderton, Pennsylvania

Position title: Blend Manager

Position summary: Ownership for performance of manufacturing processes related to the blending operation of ground beef.

Significant duties and responsibilities:

  • General Responsibilities for Blend Manager

  • Manage the Blender Operators to adhere to current processes

  • Leverage Lean Point Calculator and other tools to optimize blends

  • Develop options to improve raw material cost, quality, availability, accuracy, etc

  • Develop business cases for each option

  • Work cooperatively with other functions as part of our continuous improvement efforts

  • Work cross-functionally to reduce variation of key parameters (e.g. lean point measurement)

  • Manage inventory and staging area to improve accuracy and efficiency of material handling

  • Define lean point check process and verification plan on each line

  • Establish coordination with Fab to determine optimal trim lean points

  • Frozen trim usage optimization and tracking

  • Verify Execution and documentation of quality checks (e.g. temperature checks)

Reports to: Plant manager

Direct reports: Blender Supervisor/Operator

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree, technical preferred

  • 5 years management experience

  • Cross-functional experience (operations, maintenance, materials, quality, etc)

  • Has demonstrated ability to implement and maintain manufacturing process improvements and controls on-technical skills:

  • Good verbal communication skills

  • Initiative and objectivity – willing to drive change

  • Coaching and mentoring

  • Understanding of the need for process discipline Other desirable characteristics:

  • Strong problem solving skills

  • Works well in a team setting - good listening skills, able to build rapport

  • Open to new ideas and experimentation

  • Practical, with a bias for action

  • Enjoys spending time on the shop floor (as opposed to office)

  • Strong customer service orientation towards production, passion for driving service levels, productivity and quality

  • Understanding of production equipment

  • Understanding of operation and sanitation of production equipment

  • Understanding of key regulatory requirements impacting plant and equipment (OSHA, USDA, …)

  • Understand Lean principles, and know what “good” looks like in plant operations Key Measurements:
