Scope of Position:
To maintain product integrity and food safety within the plant. Implement all government directives, regulations, and polices on a plant-wide basis. Oversee all production of consumer ready meat products and ensure that all packages meet customer specifications.
Responsibilities:
Directly supervises FSQA Supervisor, FSQA technicians, and pre-op inspectors and coordinates their activities
Assists and helps Food Safety Specialist with all SQF Program and all third-party audits.
Responsible for resolving customer complaints and trending their activity.
Responsible to help maintain HACCP program and all records associated with it.
Collaborates with Lab Manager on scheduled testing
Collaborates with Sanitation Company or Sanitation Compliance on MSS activities and ensures completeness.
Ensures the facility is operational ready in the morning.
Prepare reports on daily issues
Serve as a trainer for pre-operational inspection of equipment and for operational inspections of the facility.
Collaborates with Maintenance Manager on preventative maintenance activities and the deep cleaning of equipment.
Coordinates with Technical Project Manager on labeling and nutritional content of products.
Interacts with USDA on any NRs and any other concerns of the inspectors.
Verifies pest control company’s procedures and implementation of those procedures
Participates in and coordinates activities resulting from deficiencies found during plant self-audits
Ensure calibrations for all equipment is being maintained as needed
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in a biological science with 5+ years’ experience in a USDA RTE facility; or a Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years’ experience in a USDA RTE facility. In addition, candidates for this position should have/be:
Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience
SQF certified
HACCP certified
Ability to make decisions without guidance
Ability to multi-task
Must have excellent problem-solving abilities
Must have excellent customer service skills
Must have excellent communication skills
Must have ability to mentor and train individuals
Must be able to read and comprehend regulations, correspondence, instructions, rules and regulations as well as fill out forms and write reports
Team player with leadership skills
Experience in leading groups of QA employees, including setting team and individual objectives, managing individual and team performance and building a team approach to problem solving
Strong proficiency with personal computer software with knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and multiple applications required.
Detail oriented and strong analytical skills
Highly organized
Spanish/English bilingual desired but not required
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
Frequent sitting, standing and walking, which may be required for long periods of time
Maintaining composure in dealing with authorities, clients, staff and the public, occasionally under conditions of urgency and in pressure situations.
Must undergo and meet company standards for background and reference checks, controlled substance testing.
Required ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
Handling and being exposed to sensitive and confidential information.
Responding on an on-call basis to emergencies and incidents at all hours.
May be exposed to stressful situations.
May be required to work additional hours/overtime without advance notice.
Seeing, hearing and speaking clearly in order to communicate effectively.
Occasional lifting and/or moving up to fifty (50) pounds unassisted.
